ABSTRACT: Dengue is considered as one the major health problems in the Philippines. This disease occurs in all age groups, transmitted by Aedes aegypti, a day-biting mosquito. It is preventable but is prevalent in urban centers where population density is high, water supply, solid waste collection and storing is inadequate. Many cases were reported having this kind of disease, thus, we should give more attention to this. DOH proposed a program called "Dengue Control Program". The thrust of this program is directed towards community-based prevention. With this, many barangay officials responded by sending information to the community regarding this dengue disease. The study aims to determine the effectiveness of health programs on Dengue in Barangay Batasan Hills, Quezon City. The results of this study will benefit the barangay officials, barangay health workers, families, future researchers and we the researchers. The method used in this study was descriptive methods specifically descriptive status. It describes and interprets what is, and reveals conditions and relationships that exist or do not exist, practices that prevail or do not prevail, beliefs or points of view or attitudes that are held or not held, procedures that are continuing or otherwise, effects that are being felt or trends that are developing. The respondents of this study are the residents and barangay health workers of Barangay Batasan Hills, Quezon City. The respondents of this study are composed of 386 families and 14 barangay health workers, which were obtained from the total population of the said barangay. The adequate sample needed for this study is determined through the use of Sloven`s formula. The people or the residents of the barangay do have a little knowledge regarding Dengue disease, though the barangay health workers have the knowledge, it is not enough because they lack the information dissemination. |
