Abstract: The basic need of the knowledge of cardiopulmonary resuscitation procedures to the medical students should be of established fact. But for some, they still have to learn more and be able to perform it practically. In accordance with this, the action group have tried to evaluate the knowledge of the medical students of FEU-NRMF, objectively and subjectively. The target population consisted of students from first year to third year regular medical students, male and female, selected by stratified random sampling. Baseline level was established after the pre-test and the target level of increase in knowledge was set to 15%. After a series of symposiums, lectures, and actual hands-on exercises, post-test was administered to thirty selected students and results were tallied, computed and analyzed. The data obtained showed an increase in knowledge of 20% under the objective component and 18% under the subjective component with a total of 19%. Using the T-test statistics, the overall increase in knowledge obtained met the target level set up by the group which was an increase in 15% (a=0.05). The action program has satisfactory improved the knowledge on cardiopulmonary resuscitation skills of the target population by different working strategies. |
