Summary, etc. It has been a well-known fact that anti-epileptic drugs are associated with numerous kinds of toxicity. Much toxicity associated with the use of these antiepileptic drugs has been attributed to its mechanism of its specific action. The study is designed to determine the degree of adverse effects caused by combining two antiepileptic drugs of different action and comparing it with the same drugs given as a monotherapy. It is hoped that this study will be able to demonstrate a comparative association of toxicity with multiple drug therapy of antiepileptic drugs. The experiment required the following drug dosages to elicit toxicity. In-group A, no drug was given because this is the control group B was given Valproate with a dosage of 120 mg/kg. Group C was given Carbamazepine at a dosage of 1 gm.kg. The last group, Group D was given the drug combination of Valproate and Carbamazepine which was given at different time to differences of half-lives of these two drugs. The first drug to be administered is Carbamazepine followed by Valproate after 4 hours. Endurance was measured by determining the length of time the rats stayed on the wheel.
