Summary, etc. | In the study, thirty (30) female guinea pigs were used as experimental subjects for the comparison of the wound healing effects of Aloe vera and magnesium sulfate. Three (3) incisions 2 millimeters deep and 1.5 centimeters long were placed at the shaved lumbar area of each subject, whereupon the three incisions were topically applied with Aloe vera extract, magnesium sulfate, and normal saline solution (as the control) for ten (10) days. The development of wound healing for each subject was observed, using erythema and scar formation as the parameters. The parameters were observed using a scoring system, after which the results were gathrerd, tabulated and analyzed. The results of this study showed that magnesium sulfate has greater effect on the disappearance of erythema and faster effect on the scar formation as compared to Aloe vera. |
