Summary, etc. This study was done to investigate if Vigna radiata contains an anti-inflammatory activity using two dosage preparation namely 250 mg/ml and 500 mg/ml and was subsequently evaluated to determine which has a greater anti-inflammatory activity. Vigna radiata was lyophilized. The rats (Ratus norvegicus) were divided into four (4) groups. Carrageenan was then injected to the rigth paw of the rat to induce inflammation. Different modes of treatment were given via gavage to each group. The experimental geoups were treated with a lyophilized Vigna radiata (yellow mung bean) dissolved in Normal Saline (NSS). The first group was given 250 mg/ml and the second group with 500 mg/ml. NSS was given to another group which served as the negative control and the last group was given aspirin which served as the positive control. For all the groups, weight of the right paw measured using plenthsmometer every 30 minutes to monitor the change in the swelling until measurements returned to baseline. Results showed that the lyophilized Vigna radiata decreased the carrageenan induce swelling on both 250 mg/ml and 500 mg/ml dosage. The study showed the anti-inflammatory activity of Vigna radiata. The 500 mg/ml dose of lyophilized mongo has shown an anti-inflammatory effect comparable to aspirin.
