Summary, etc. ABSTRACT: With the sudden rise of neurological disorders affecting society, the demand for better cognitive and memory enhancer drugs are increasing and pharmaceutical companies are responding to this demand. It should be considered though, that proper research and testing of these supplemental drugs important in determining the more effective drug for such conditions. For this researchers considered to evaluate the efficacy of a memory enhancer supplement with Dicalcium phosphate and Bacopa monniera as its active ingredients. Spatial, working, and reference memory were investigated in ICR mice by utilization of two different mazes after induction of the said memory enhancer drug for the experimental group and after induction of distilled water for the control group. Ten mice, five males and five females, were tested in the Morris Water Maze to evaluate spatial memory. Staying time and searching time was measured to quantify effectiveness of the supplement in this case. In the study, a significant difference between the control and experimental groups, in terms of their search and stay time was observed both in training and in the actual experiment, with the experimental group having most improved. Ten mice, five males and five females, were tested in an eight-arm Radial Maze to evaluate working and reference memory. Long term and short term errors were measured to evaluate effectiveness of the supplement in this test. The ICR mice not treated with the drug supplement tend to commit higher mean of long and short-term memory errors. There was significant reduction of the number of errors between the control and experimental groups in both the long term and short-term memory. These results indicate that the memory enhancer drug improved the spatial, working and reference memory of the ICR mice.
