Summary, etc. ABSTRACT: A descriptive study was undertaken on November 21, 2011 to assess the knowledge, attitude, and practices of the management of Acute gastroenteritis in Barangay Camarin, Caloocan City, after which an action plan was initiated to educate the residents of Camarin-SNKI, Caloocan City, Its etiology, Complications and prevent the misconceptions they about it. Information was obtained from all available residents of Barangay Camarin-SNKI Caloocan City who attended the lectures and answered the questionnaire (Total Enumeration). Two questionnaires, pre and post intervention were used to evaluate the extent to which our program achieved its targets. The questionnaires were used to assess the general knowledge about Acute Gastroenteritis (q2-6), to assess the populations attitude towards it (q7-9), and to evaluate their current practices towards the said disease (q10-15). The tests require choosing from the given choices. There was ahigh percentage of knowledge and attitude regarding acute gastroenteritis among the residents of Barangay Camarin-SNKI Caloocan City, attributed to their experience of the disease. On the aspect of practice, almost only half had the correct practices. There was a significant increase in the score of the participants of about 18.7% in question number 2-6. These questions were used to assess the participants knowledge on Acute Gastroenteritis, thus we can say that there was an increase. For question 7, 12.5% increase for those who answered yes and most of them answered that they would bring their patient to a public clinic. For those who answered no, their primary reason was due to financial. For question number 8, there was also a significant increase for all the reasons for consultation. These questions were used to evaluate the participants' attitude and how they react towards Acute Gastroenteritis. For assessing the participants current practices towards management of Acute Gastroenteritis, question 9-13 and 15 were utilized and showed, 13.3 % increase thus we can say that the study had positive impact to all the participants. Question 14, evaluates common practices on the prevention of acute gastroenteritis, which showed boiling of water and proper of food as their primary way of prevention on acute gastroenteritis.
