Abstract: The study determined the number of hours that third year medical students spent on reading for the first preliminary examination in community and family medicine (CFM0 3b. It also determined if there is a correlation between the number of hours students spent on studying and the preliminary examination grades. Finally, the study determined the effect of reading hours on the preliminary examination grades. The data was obtained from the results of the examination grades and the survey questionnaires that were handed out to medical students from sections 3F, 3G, and 3H. The results of the questionnaires were analyzed using different statistical tests including Spearman Rank Correlation and Kruskall Wallis test. The study has shown that there is no significant relationship between the length of study time and the examination grade. Also, reading at any time of the day, the number of breaks taken in between reading, or the numbers of reading materials used by respondents have no significant relationship with the first preliminary examination grade. The authors have determined that the time of day and the total number of hours students spent studying have no correlation with the examination grade. |
