Summary: Abstract: A total of 137 male and female first year to third year medical students of FEU-NRMF Institute of Medicine were assessed for physical fitness. The questionnaire method was initially employed as a gauge of each student's physical activity. Physical fitness was then evaluated by the individual's performance in sit-ups, flexion and step-test. Only 48.41 % of 137 were categorized as being physically fit, majority of which are females. A significant correlation was also established between the subject's performance in the step-test (0.333) and sit-ups (0.330) and the duration by which he/she is engaged in exercise. It was then concluded that the duration of exercise relatively determines the subject's cardio-respiratory endurance as exemplified in the step-test.
