Summary: Abstract: The comparison of cases of parasitic infection among children living in the squatters area of Algeciras St., Sampaloc and Santiago St., Paco was evaluated in 86 children. Random sampling was adapted in choosing the study population and the laboratory method employed was Direct Fecal smear. The result showed a greater incidence in Algeciras St., Sampaloc. Factors that affect the preponderance of infection are as follows: personal hygiene (poorer in Algeciras St. Sampaloc ); socio-economic ( Algeciras St. Sampaloc has lower income); nutritional status; age (greater in children below 5 yrs. old) and sex (female greater than male). Manifestations which most frequently appeared in both study population were anorexia, abdominal pain, loss of weight and diarrhea.
