Summary: Abstract: The Generics Act of 1988 was formulated under Republic Act Number 6675, signed into law by President Aquino and implemented on September 1, 1989. Its implementation has since then triggered constant and extensive evaluation from different sectors of the society. In particular, several medical doctors have expressed sentiments on the said act that are seem to be conflicting with what the act proposes to serve. Our task now is involves adopting research studies to further the physicians' point of view and to be able to contribute to its current evaluation. This study is a survey which includes 146 respondents consisting of physicians and interns of FEU Hospital. The respondents were provided with 3 sets of questionnaires constructed as to determine their knowledge, attitude and practice on the Generics Act of 1988. The results provided a picture on how the said law is being perceived from the level of the practicing physicians and as to how they are complying with its provisions some in contrast and some similar to the common and well publicized commentary about the Generics Act. Important results gathered from this study is that the common stand of the fellows and consultants are geared towards an adverse attitude while there is a likely better acceptance or reception among the post-graduate interns. The residents, on the other hand, have varieties of response but they seem to be fully aware of the said provisions and are generally complying with it. These are important factors to note since the physicians knowledge, attitude and practice of the Generics Act would also be an important influence on the patients awareness, perception and compliance on the Generics Law, thus contributing to the success of failure in the implementation of this relatively new mandatory law.
