Summary: ABSTRACT: The purpose of this study was to assess the awareness on contraceptives and sexually transmitted diseases among 112 Senior High School students of Far Eastern University - Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation. The respondents of this study were students aged 18 years old and above and currently enrolled in FEU-NRMF Senior High School Program. The method used in this study was descriptive-comparative which assessed the students' knowledge in sex education in reference to artificial contraceptives, sexually transmitted diseases, and their medium or source of information. This research was conducted in order to determine the level of awareness on artificial contraception and sexually transmitted diseases and to also lessen the misconceptions about it. The results showed that the respondents were aware on artificial contraceptives in terms of its types and uses, its application and mechanism, and its availability while they are also aware on the treatments and symptoms of sexually transmitted diseases. The researches also found out that the respondents were unaware of the causes of sexually transmitted diseases. Furthermore, it was revealed that their main source of information when it comes to contraceptives and sexually transmitted diseases are from their respective school and the internet while some gather information using textbooks, from friends and peers and from hospital or health centers. The researchers recommend that the results of this study be utilized for an orientation program to expand the students' knowledge on artificial contraceptives and sexually transmitted diseases.
