Summary: ABSTRACT: This study seeks to determine the effectiveness of Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response in lowering the anxiety of pre-operative patients in tertiary hospital, Quezon City. Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response (ASMR) is an auditory stimulation that refers to sensation felt in response to certain triggers such as whispering, tapping, haircuts, and 3D sound. The amsterdam Preoperative Anxiety and Information Scale (APAIS) questionnaire was administered to the patients before after ASMR listening. Results of the pre and post evaluation were compared, the results showed clinical significance of ASMR in lowering the anxiety level of patients undergoing sugery. The researchers aim to contribute in the development of an independent nursing intervention that will improve postoperative recovery in a non-pharmacological way which stems out from the innate caring behaviour of all of us. Limitations of this study may hinder to produce a statistically significant result due to limited number of patients and time constraints, hence, a follow-up study is recommended to fulfil the researchers aim.
