Abstract: The objective of this study was to determine the association of the present living conditions such as dormitories or homes and emotional quotient on 2nd year medical students. A cross sectional analytical study was conducted on a total of 246 sampled 2nd year medical students selected by non-probability convenience sampling technique. Schutte Self-Report Emotional Intelligence Test (SSEIT) was used to measure the general emotional intelligence. Data was collected through an online survey. ANOVA was used to determine the association of variables with the emotional quotient of the students 89% of students were living in their homes and 11% of the students were living in dormitories. There was no statistical difference between home-based and dorm-based based on the subscale with the highest score, perception of emotion.
