Summary: Abstract: Musicians have their advantages in terms of memorization because they are well-trained with their memory-retention while practicing their instrument. Having that mentioned, research was conducted in the hopes of getting a better glimpse of what are the underlying routines and techniques that an instrumentalist uses that helped them memorize their instrument and musical piece exquisitely. The purpose of this study is to describe the techniques that musicians use in the field of academics that would help them to have better memorization skills while learning their lessons or subjects. The objective of this study is to determine and describe what are the memorization techniques that an instrumentalist usually use and how it would be applied in the academe and to achieve the goal of further understanding how the memorization process works among instrumentalist. The respondents and information are musical instrumentalist from Far Eastern University - Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation. This study is a mixed-method design to employ the use of survey-questionnaires and interviews to gather the needed data to fulfill the objective and the research questions. Using a pre-survey, one hundred (100) instrumentalists students were determined. There are five (5) instrumentalists from the respondents that were selected who are willing to be an informant for the qualitative interview. Based on the gathered qualitative data, instrumentalists suggested significant memorization techniques such as using the sense of hearing and vision with the concept of repetition. As a result, they were able to create distinct memory tags. In addition, the quantitative data shows that chronological, ascending and part by part learning that lies under logical patterns obtained the highest rank with a weighted mean of 3.45 to 3.46, suggesting that they are the most effective methods in memorizing in terms of academic application. Overall, it can be concluded that with the use of more and more memory tags such as visual, auditory, conceptual and logical pieces of information, the instrumentalists were able to maximize this principle in both the aspects of musical training and academic studying. The gathered data showed that the memorization techniques used in musical training can be applied in the aspect of academic learning and memorization in a way where the social factors, logical patterns and the auditory and visual senses are also being used.
