Summary: Abstract: Initial cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) were recorded in Wuhan, China which eventually reached the Philippine during the first quarter of 2020. All data included in this study was an aggregate from the national preliminary report submitted to the Philippine College of Physicians. This study aimed to describe the characteristics of hospitalized patients with COVID-19 in a predominantly Filipino cohort in a tertiary private hospital. This retrospective observational study was done among RT-PCR confirmed COVID-19 patients admitted in FEU-NRMF Medical Center from February 1 to July 15, 2020. Demographic profile, exposure history, presenting admitting symptoms and clinical characteristics were extracted from health records. A total of 37 RT-PCR confirmed COVID-19 patients included were mostly 20-40 years old. Hypertension, diabetes mellitus and bronchial asthma were the most common comorbidities. The mortality rate recorded in our institution was 8.1%. Subsequently, there were significant differences between the deceased and alive patients in terms of the heart rate (p=0.0073), respiratory rate (p<0.001), and qSOFA score (p=0.011). As part of the profiling and assessment of characteristics of hospitalized patients with COVID-19 in the Philippines, our subset data in FEU-NRMF seems to be at par with the national data.
