ABSTRACT:
This study focuses on exploring the influence of self-medication in the skincare practices of senior high school students and determining the different self-medication-inducing factors. This paper also aims to give knowledge and awareness on how self-medication influences skin care practices and the skin health of senior high school students. Additionally, it aims to provide recommendations for arising problems in self-medication in skincare practices. Using a mixed-method design which involves a descriptive method
and a secondary data analysis, it was found that self-medication is multifactorial. Results also show that skincare ingredients that target acne are usually integrated into students’
skincare routines. Finally, it was discovered that self-medication in skincare products has both positive and negative effects on students in both the short and long term. Meanwhile, data gathering was conducted through a researcher-made survey questionnaire that is administered online to a sample population of 133 senior high school students in Far
Eastern University- Dr. Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation A.Y. 2022-2023 that have or had acne.
