MEDICINE Research project
A case of a 29-year old female who manifested with progressive pain in the right iliac region is presented. During an operation for suspected acute appendicitis, an unexpected intra-operative finding of ileocolic intussusception secondary to a tumor at the base of the appendix was noted. A right hemicolectomy with primary ileocolic anastomosis was successfully performed. Final histopathology revealed mucinous adenocarcinoma (pT3N0M0). The post-operative course was uneventful.
