Dissertation note: MEDICINE Research project Summary: An asymptomatic tumor was found in the pelvic vavity of a 27 year old. primigravid during her routine untrasound at 6 weeks age of gestation. The initial impression of the mass was dermoid cyst. She underwent exploratory laparotomy around 18-19 weeks age gestation with intraoperative findings of normal ovaries. A cystic mass measuring 10 x 8 cm located at the rigth posterolateral of the uterus was noted. Due to the adherence of the mass to the gravid uterus, the surgical team opted to abort the procedure. On the 39th week age gestation, the patient underwent low segment cesarean section and excision of the mass which was noted to be adherent to the uterosaacral ligament. Histopathologic report revealed a mature cystic teratoma.
