ABSTRACT: Hand washing is considered to be the single most important procedure in the prevention of nosocomial infections but its impact in the outpatient setting has not been determined. Currently, only 2 studies have been done regarding hand washing in the outpatient department (OPD) and these were conducted in the dermatology and pediatric clinics in a hospital in Israel. Both showed low to moderate compliance with hand hygiene (31.4% & 48.*%, respectively).
