SUMMARY: A 23-item questionnaire was constructed, validated and used to determine the factors influencing health seeking behavior for voice problems among voice professionals. One hundred sixty-six voice professionals participated in a cross-sectional survey that revealed women, the better educated, professional singers and older voice professionals were more likely to see a voice specialist. The proportion of respondents who would consult a voice specialist for their voice problems and those who would not were almost the same. The lack of time/busy schedule, the inconvenience of laryngeal examination and the lack of awareness on proper voice care were the major barriers to seeking care for voice problems.
