Summary: ABSTRACT: This is a case of D.A., 46 year old, female with swelling of the right infrauricular area for 1 month. The patient was initially assessed as Facial abscess, Masticator area probably secondary to Parotitis, Rule out Malignancy. A complete blood panel was done which revealed neutrophila and increased blood sugar. The WBC was 22.42/uL and Fasting Sugar was 407mg/dl. Chest x-ray was normal. Wound stab culture and sensitivity and blood culture and sensitivity taken from two different sites revealed isolated growth of Klebsiella sp. Computed Tomography with contrast revealed large and bulky heterogenous enhancing right masticator space mass lesion to consider inflammatory mass, However, the possibility of neoplastic process with overlying inflammation cannot be totally ruled out. Complete debridement of all necrotic tissue was performed and sent for histopathology. The final histopathology result revealed. Acute Necrotizing inflammation w/ granulation tissue and and abscess formation, consistent of Necrotizing fasciitis.
