ABSTRACT: Upper gastrointestinal bleeding defined as bleeding in the gastrointestinal tract anywhere from the esophagus down to the ligament of Treitz in the duodenum is one of the more common cases seen at the emergency room. Identifying its cause and specific source however is still a challenging task.
