Summary: ABSTRACT: This is a case of a 78 year old male presented with 1 months history of swelling of the left lower extremities accompanied pain, warmth and tenderness. He was a diagnosed case of Hip fracture (October 2003), S/P Hip replacement left, on a Private Hospital. He was able to tolerate the operation without complications and stayed in the hospital for 3 weeks. He was discharged with home medication of unrecalled antibiotic and pain reliever ( Celebrex) 100 mg/cap OD and Multivitamins. For one year the patient was able to ambulate and do normal daily activities. Until 1 year after the said operation the patient again experience pain, warmth, and tenderness of the operated leg. This time patient was unable to ambulate with limitation of movement due to pain even at rest. he was then admitted at our institution were he was treated as a chronic osteomyelitis to hip prosthesis. He was given IV antibiotic for 4 weeks duration and debridement of the wound.
