Dissertation note: Medicine Research project Summary: Gallbladder Polyps are elevated lesions found on the mucosal surfaces of the gallbladder. In order to differentiate it from other gallbladder diseases, the use of ultrasound is warranted. However, there is an increasing incidence of ultrasonographically detected gallbladder polyps with different histopathologic findings. This study determines the correlation of patients with gallbladder polyp and their histopathological result. Ultrasound reports of patients with gallbladder polyp diagnosed at FEU-NRMF Medical Center from January 2005- December 2013 were collected. Patients who underwent cholecystectomy in the same institution were then identified and their histopathological reports were correlated. Forty two (42) identified patients underwent cholecystectomy in and 42.9% had Chronic cholecystitis, 42.9% had Chronic cholecystitis with Cholesterolosis. Majority of the identified patients had ultrasound findings of polyp size less than 5mm with different histopathological results of chronic cholecystitis, chronic cholecystitis with cholesterolosis.
