Summary: ABSTRACT: "A Comparative study on the Effectiveness of Slow Concentric-Fast Eccentric VS Fast Concentric-Slow Eccentric in Increasing the Strength & Muscle Bulk of the Non-Dominant Hand of Residents of Blue Ridge" aims to determine a better technique in improving muscular strength that could be applied by physical therapist in their practice. The study focuses on six key points concentric and eccentric muscle contraction, manual muscle testing, repetition maximum, muscle bilk and DAPRE (Daily Adjustment Progressive Resistive Exercise). Concentric contraction is the phase where most of the muscle is doing the work. Eccentric contraction is the phase with resistance in which the muscle returns the weight of the extremity to the relaxed position. Manual muscle testing is a tool used to evaluate the function and strength of individual muscle and muscle groups based manual resistance. Repetition maximum is the greatest amount of load a muscle can move through the available range of motion a specific number of times. Muscle bulk refers to the size of individual muscle or a muscle group. DAPRE is a system of dynamic resistance training in which a constant external load is applied to the contracting muscle by some mechanical means. The study compares the effectiveness of slow concentric-fast eccentric and fast concentric in increasing muscle strength & muscle bulk of residents in barangay Blue Ridge. It also intends to determine the difference between fast concentric-slow eccentric and slow concentric-fast eccentric in increasing manual muscle testing, to determine the difference between fast concentric-slow eccentric and slow concentric in increasing muscle bulk and determine if there are differences between fast concentric-slow eccentric and slow concentric-fast eccentric in increasing muscle bulk & muscle strength as to age and gender.
