Summary: Abstract: A descriptive study was made to evaluate the compliance to EPI of mothers with children below six years old in Barangay 484 Zone 48 Algeciras, Dimasalang. The percentage of compliant mothers was found to be 56.96 % of the total population of 79 mothers. The factors affecting their compliance were identified and these factors include knowledge of mothers regarding EPI, the role played by mass media in informing mothers about EPI, information dissemination by the health center and false beliefs of mothers regarding EPI. Other factors identified in the study are the adequacy of health center supplies, influence of the family either of the grandparents or of the husband, the traditional beliefs of the mothers, influence of the church to mothers and the role played by the doctors in the delivery of primary health care. Regarding the provision of EPI by the health workers the following factors play a role, namely, lack of manpower, poor community participation, low educational status of mothers, poor information dissemination and adequacy of supplies. It is suggested in this study that health care personnels be increased in proportion to the community being covered by the health center and that any program to be effective should see to it that active community participation is observed. It is also recommended that further studies should be unstituted in other communities taking into consideration the various factors mentioned.
