Abstract: This study evaluated the effects of hair dye on the hematologic profile of 3rd year medical students of FEU-NRMF. A total of 52 subjects participated in the study. Complete Blood Count (CBC) and Peripheral Blood Smear (PBS). The tools used to evaluate the correlation between the use of hair dye and the age of first use, duration and frequency of use. Blood cells were adequate in number, normocytic and normochromic except a 4.17% anisocytosis and 25% hypochromic cells in age group 21-22 and 30% hypochromic in years 23-24. white blood cells are mature, normal in number and morphology with neutrophilic dominance although 4.17% of ages 21-22 showed slight neutrophil predominance. Platelets were normal in number and morphology with clumping. This study found no significant association between changes in hematologic indices and age of first use, duration of use, frequency of use of hair dye. Changes in hematocrit level was, however, significant.
