Abstract Odelco: Magtulungan tayo; Kapaligiran mo, linisin mo! is an action program conducted in Odelco riverside to promote awareness regarding a clean community, ultimately geared towards community participation and unity. The project started with a survey regarding the most important problems facing the community. Problems were ranked according to importance and from the data collected, it was shown that the accumulation of solid waste into the river is the main concern. Factors contributing to this are the indifferent attitudes towards proper refuse collection and disposal, unsanitary practices of refuse storage and/or disposal, and the lack of knowledge regarding the dangers of unsanitary garbage disposal. As an answer to these problems, the group initiated activities to mobilize the people to participate in health education lectures regarding garbage segregation and the effects brought about by these unsanitary practices. Towards the end, the community was organized to conduct a mass cleaning campaign and the construction of an additional communal garbage bin attest to the people`s desire to attain a clean and healthy environment.
