Summary: ABSTRACT: To determine the glycemic response of Eugenia cumini (duhat) leaves extract, 25 rats grouped into 5 were studied. This was obtained by measuring the glucose response using Oral Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT). Each subject is its own control. Results showed that glucose powder had the highest glycemic response (19.25+-3.5), followed by glucose powder with 25% duhat extract (17.85+-1.03), 50% concentration (15.25+-1.6), and glucose with 75% duhat extract, which had lowest glycemic response (13.0+-1.13). It has been therefore concluded that 75% concentration has a better source of tannin and can be useful for the maintenance of Diabetes Mellitus as well as obese individuals.
