Summary: ABSTRACT: The ground air dried peelings of Musa sapientum var, lacatan was extracted using 80% ethyl alcohol. The crude extract was tested qualitatively for presence of tannins by treating it with ferric chloride solution which resulted to a greenish tinge solution. The crude extract of Musa sapienum was tested for antimicrobial activity by the filter disc agar method. The zone of inhibition of the crude extract disc was compared to the zone of inhibition of tetracycline disc as the standard drug. The antibiotic disc had shown a positive (+) zone of inhibition with E. coli and Staphylococcus aureus. A negative zone of inhibition was seen on the crude extract disc.
