Dissertation note: Pharmacology Thesis Summary: ABSTRACT: Different insects have developed increased resistance to different commercially available insecticides commonly used nowadays. Aside from resistence of organism as well as their expensive cost, available insecticides contain strong components leading to their toxicity and harmful effects to the environment. This research aims to develop cost-effective, nature-friendly insecticidal agent. Lansones leaf extract was obtained using Reflux Method then diluted into different concentrations: 10%, 25% 35%, 65% and 100%. The different preparations were then applied by spraying directly to the mosquitoes. Positive and negative controls were likewise used for comparison. Mortality was determined 5 minutes after spraying and was further observed for 2 days. Computations using Independent T- Test revealed that there is significant difference in the mortality of the mosquitoes treated with the varying concentrations. This only proves that pure crude extract was as effective as the commercially available insecticide with regard to its action.
