ABSTRACT: This experiment aims to compare the onset and duration of the anesthetic effect of Eucalyptus tereticornis oil and 5% topical Lidocaine. Ten (10) male albino rats as experimental animals and another ten (10) as control animal 5% topical Lidocaine or Eucalyptus was applied on the hard palate of the experimental animals. The onset was determined every 30 seconds from the time of application and the duration was determined every 30 seconds from the time of onset. With the experiment, the researchers have found out that Eucalyptus tereticornis oil has faster onset but with a shorter duration compared with 5% topical Lidocaine which has a slower onset but with longer duration.
