Summary: ABSTRACT: The effectivity of Gemfibrozil and Fenofibrate was compared using serum triglyceride levels 24 of mature male rabbits as a parameter. Initially triglyceride levels of the subjects were elevated by administration of epinephrine. Paired data analysis showed that 10 days induction of epinephrine can cause significant elevation of triglyceride levels. The rabbits were then randomly assigned into three groups. Group A was the control while groups B and C were the treatment groups that received 150mg/kgBW/day gemfibrozil and 40mg/kgBW/day Fenofibrate respectively. Two-sample t-test was used to compare serum triglyceride levels of rabbits after induction of epinephrine (AIE) and after treatment (AT) within the groups mentioned. All showed significant lowering after treatment. This implies that one-week removal of epinephrine and administration of treatment drugs is enough to show significant lowering in triglyceride levels of rabbits. Comparing the mean absolute differences of triglyceride levels after induction of epinephrine and after treatment between groups B and C showed that the group treated with Gemfibrozil had lower triglyceride level. However, two-sample t-test with t value of 2.306 showed that this difference is not significant.
