ABSTRACT: The potential glucose-lowering effect of Tongyitang capsules against elevated levels of glucose in Rattus norvegicus rats was investigated in this study. Glucose solution was utilized to induce hyperglycemia in three test groups. These were tested against Metformin-Glibenclamide and distilled water as positive and negative controls, respectively. Blood glucose levels extracted from the tail vein were measured using a glucometer. Blood glucose levels were measured at the different time intervals. Hypoglycemic effects were observed in both Tongyitang and Metformin-Glibenclamide treated groups, however consistent hypoglycemic effects were seen more in the former group.
