THE IMMUNIZATION STATUS AND KNOWLEDGE ON THE RECOMMENDED ADULT IMMUNIZATION OF THE MEDICAL STUDENTS OF FEU-NRMF

Unfamiliarty of adult vaccines and the diseases it prevents lead to lack of vaccine coverage. This study addresses the statistical gap by assessing the status and awareness of FEU medical students regarding the recommended adult immunization program in the Philippines to maintain good health and to forestall preventable diseases. The study is a descriptive study designed to determine the extent of awareness of the first, second, and third year regular medical students of FEU-NRMF regarding the Recommended Adult Immunization. Under the Awareness category, 54,8951% of the total population of students was fully aware, with the highest percentage on the third year level, and the lowest on the first year level. Under the Knowledge category, 11,18881% of the total population of students was fully knowledgeable, with the highest percentage on the third year level, and the lowest on the second year level. Lastly, under the Immunization Status, Hepatitis B vaccine is the most widely disseminated and the Diphteria vaccine is the least. Also under this category, Perception on the importance of adult vaccinations compared to the second and third year level. In addition to this category, the Insight on adult vaccination was also assessed, with the second year level having the most intention to be vaccination in the future. The researchers therefore conclude that the level of learning of the medical students increases or as each medical students move up on another level of education, the awareness, knowledge, immunization status under which are perception and insight on the adult immunization, will also improve. The study will serve as an important basis to support the development of comprehensive vaccination education for medical student.
