Abstract: Ethanolic extract of Lato (Culerpa racemosa) was screened for its anti-bacterial activity against both gram positive (Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus subtilis) and gram negative bacteria (Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Salmonella typhi). The anti-bacterial activities were expressed as minimum inhibitory concentrations (MIC) and zone of inhibition. Ethanolic extra t of Lato showed higher anti-bacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and low anti-bacterial activity against Escherichia coli. The extract was compared to Zonrox and Lysol. The ethanolic extract of Lato was also subjected to disinfectant assay using inanimate objects. After the test, it was shown that the extract has mild or weak disinfectant activity when used in inanimate objects.
