Summary: Abstract: Numerous studies determined Health-Related Quality of Life (HRQoL) of patients with various conditions undergoing physical rehabilitation in hospitals, either as an out-patient or in-patient. There are also several studies that determines the HRQoL of patients undergoing home-based rehabilitation. There are only few studies that determines the discrepancy of HRQoL between patients undergoing home-based rehabilitation and hospital-based rehabilitation. The objective of this study is to compare the health-related quality of life of patients undergoing physical therapy rehabilitation i hospital-based versus home-based setting as for the vitality, perception of their physical functioning, bodily pain perceives, general health perception, physical role functioning, emotional role functioning, social role functioning and mental health. This is a cross-sectional study that compares the health related quality of life 37 subjects from home-based setting to 39 subjects from hospital-based setting. The hospitals, as well as the physical therapists, is providing rehabilitation at home-based that were chosen conveniently. The subject in this study was also obtained through convenience sampling method. Mini-Mental State Exam (MMSE) was initially used in this study to evaluate the intactness of orientation and attention of the subjects in order to come up with a dependable response to the questionnaire that the researchers used in this study in which is called the Short Form-36 (SF- 36). Results showed that there are no significant differences with the mean scores in the eight domains between the two subject-patients since the p-value (Sig.) is not less than the alpha level of 0.05. For physical functioning, mean difference = 1.68, t(74)= -0.228 = 0.820. For role limitations due to physical health, mean difference = -7.81, t(71.793) = -0.828, p = 0.410. For role limitations due to emotional problems, mean difference = -0.39, t (74) = -0.037, p = 0.971. For energy/fatigue, mean difference = -2.12, t (74) = - 0.510, p = 0.612. For emotional well-being, mean difference = 1.28, t (74) = 0.311, p = 0.757. For social functioning, mean difference = 8.27, t(74) = 1.413, p = 0.162. For pain, mean difference = 10.10, t(71.293) =-1.63, p =0.108. For general health, mean difference = -1/79, t(74) =-0.406, p = 0.686. The domains has relatively high mean differences are role limitations due to physical health (-7.81), social functioning (8.27) and pain (-10.10). However, these differences are cannot be found as significant. In conclusion, the researchers determined that the HRQoL of the patients undergoing physical therapy in hospital based and home-based shows significant differences.
