Summary: Abstract: This study aims to test the antimicrobial properties of Phaseolus lunatus L. (also known as Patani in the Philippines) aqueous and ethanol extracts against streptococcus pyogenes as a solution for the increasing antimicrobial resistance and to help the people in remote areas worldwide in order to minimize the unwanted consequences of the resistance. The experiment was accomplished by using the aqueous and ethanol extracts of Phaseolus lunatus L. for antimicrobial screening. The antibacterial property of the aqueous and ethanol extracts was compared to that of vancomycin. Antimicrobial activity was tested against Streptococcus pyogenes using the Disk Diffusion Method. After conducting the experiment, it could be concluded that the aqueous and ethanol extracts of Phaseolus lunatus L. possess no antibacterial property against Streptococcus pyogenes.
