Summary: Abstract: The effects of music on workout intensity were measured for the span of 2 sessions. This study aims to compare what music genre has more effect on workout intensity as compared to working out without music. This is an experimental study that selects all the qualified subjects through survey, uses stratified random sampling method to divide all subjects into three groups; group 1 does not have any music, group 2 receive rock/alternative music, and group 3 RNB/hip hop. Data were collected by Borg's RPE (rated perceived exertion) scale, number of repetitions done & viral signs of patients using BP apparatus. The result of comparing the number of repetition and RPE of the subjects from Day 1 (no music) to Day 2 (with alternative rock music) implies that there is no evidence to say that the hypothesis is true. It can observe that the mean differences between day 1 and day 2 of each exercise regimen and RPE show that there is little or no increase in workout intensity. It is therefore possible that if further implementation was done and the subjects were continuously assessed after a longer period of time the difference in number of repetitions and RPE might be larger that could be an indication of this hypothesis that this study wants to test. This study showed difference between the results of hip-hop and rock in relation to workout. However, due to the small number of subjects and few numbers of sessions, the results cannot give significant numbers to conclude which genre in general will increase workout intensity. This warrants for further sessions and additional subjects.
