Online resources: Summary: Abstract: The aim of the study is to compare different dilutions of cane vinegar to the standard diluent in Leukocyte counting to determine whether they would produce similar results. Using the manual leukocyte counting procedure, blood of five participants was aspirated each using white blood cell pipets. The different dilutions of commercial cane vinegar served as the diluent and were aspirated as well using the white blood cell pipets. After vigorous shaking to ensure complete lysis of the red blood cells, the solution was then charged onto hemocytometers. Three registered medical technologists who were blind to the study carried out the leukocyte counting and also observed for red cell lysis. The results obtained showed that the dilutions of commercial cane vinegar were comparable to that of the standard diluents. The visibility and integrity of leukocytes were also maintained. Taking into considerations other factors, the 100% commercial cane vinegar proved to be the most effective alternative diluent among the other dilutions of commercial cane vinegar tested.
