Abstract: Disturbances in cholesterol metabolism or its transport may be associated directly or indirectly with various disease disorders, however, the most important cholesterol-associated disease is atherosclerosis. Elevated blood cholesterol levels can often be brought down to normal or near normal limits by dietary modification or it may be supplemented with cholesterol lowering drugs.
