MEDICIEN Research project
This is a case of a 1 year old female patient who came in with a cat`s eye reflex on the right eye. An MRI was done revealed calcification indicative of retinoblastoma. On Reese Ellsworth Classification the patient was classified as stage V hence enucleation was done. Histopathology revealed positive retinoblastoma with extension via the optic nerve. The management options in patient diagnosed with advance retinoblastoma were presented. The current concepts in the early diagnosis and prompt treatment were discussed. The importance of patient education such as prevention, rehabilitation, and parental concerns were emphasized. These parameters guide us with the most appropriate management needed in achieving our primary goal in saving not just lives but if possible sight.
