Summary: ABSTRACT: The objectives of this study is to gauge the present level of knowledge and safety practices of Grade 12 students regarding chemical waste management in the Basic Chemistry Laboratory of FEU-NRMF. Descriptive-comparative research design was used. Data were gathered through survey questionnaires disseminated among the 97 Grade 12 students aged 18 years old and above. It was found that the Grade 12 students have a below average level of knowledge in classifying inorganic wastes generated in the Basic Chemical Laboratory. On other hand, it was found that the students are knowledgeable with regard to clasifying organic wastes generated in the same laboratory. It is also revealed that the Grade 12 students have enough knowledge on the proper handling of inorganic and organic waste. The present level of implementation of laboratory safety was high, and that a significant difference occurred in the level of knowledge of the respondents in handling inorganic and organic wastes, as well as in the implementation of pre-laboratory orientation when they are grouped according to their respective sections. As a result, a conceptualized development program called Knowledge Enhancement Program, was suggested to improve the respondents' knowledge regarding the mentioned categories in the Basic Chemical Laboratory.
