Summary: ABSTRACT: This study was conducted to assess the present level of awareness about hospital hazardous waste management in the Senior High School (SHS) students with a goal to develop an instructional plan to the SHS curriculum. The survey was conducted among 98 senior high school students of Far Eastern University - Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation. Results reveal that the respondents' awareness on hospital hazardous waste and its impact were both moderate to high. No significant relationship was found between the respondents' awareness on the impacts of hospital hazardous waste and the risk associated with it. Similar findings ware also obtained in terms of the relationship between the students' awareness on hospital hazardous waste and its impact to the environment, people and the economy. This brought the study to the conclusion that the respondents' awareness on hospital hazardous waste is adequate enough to educate them about its nature and characteristics. Though no relationship was obtained between the level of awareness with respect to its impact and risk, the moderate to high awareness can be geared up to the higher level of awareness through an instructional plan prepared by this study.
