MEDICINE Research project
This is a report on a rare case of a 22-year old, male who presented with fever, epigastric pain and jaundice; subsequently diagnosed with Acute Hepatitits A and incidentally with Caroli disease is a rare congenital condition characterized by multifocal, segmental, and saccular dilatation of intrahepatic ducts commonly affecting adults under 22 years of age. Early diagnosis is important due to the possible complications of cholangitis, liver cirrhosis and cholangiocarcinoma. The aid of modern imaging techniques, early diagnosis and appropriate intervention can prevent the aforementioned grave complications.
