Summary: Abstract: The number of youth involved in teenage pregnancy and STD transmission is growing at a fast rate in the Philippines. Every year, an estimated 21 million girls aged 15-19 years in developing regions become pregnant and approximately 12 million of them give birth (WHO, 2020). However, in North America, where sex and pregnancy among teens are a hot subject, education is usually implemented. Six out of ten adolescent women and more than five out of ten teenage men have had sexual experience by the age of eighteen. The percentage of 15-17 year-old that ever had sexual experience has decreased by 10% of the 750,000 teen pregnancies that occur each year, 82 percent are accidental. (Guttmatcher institute, 2011). This study then determine the awareness of Filipino secondary level students in Quezon City regarding Sex Education with the questions of their stand in Sex Education, advantages, and disadvantages of having this in the curriculum, and the effect of the surroundings on their perspective. This study is a mix of quantitative research methods and the researchers used the mixed method to gather as much reliable data as possible with the use of survey questionnaires and conducting interviews to assess awareness from different perspectives. By the end of the study, some students firmly agreed that they are not that aware of the sex education topic, are not ready, lack information and misunderstand the matter a lot. Barriers like their religion, culture, and the consent of parents are the main reasons as to why their learning in Sex Education is hindered. Furthermore, it is found that fully implementing Sex Education in the curriculum of Philippines will help students explore and understand the deeper meaning and importance of Sexual Health and Reproduction which will greatly contribute to the problems of society under matter.
