Online resources: Summary: Abstract: The problem of the study is focused primarily on determining the Long Term Effect of Single Application of Muscle Energy Technique in increasing Hip Abduction Range of Motion (ROM) on Hip Adductor tightness. Muscle energy technique (MET) applied for a single session will have a long-term effect in increasing hip abductor ROM secondary to tightness of hip adductors. The research design used in the study was a true experimental research design. Purposive sampling technique was utilized wherein the subjects chosen had tightness of the hip adductors. This sampling technique was used primarily because there are only few Physical Therapists that have expertise in the application of muscle energy technique (MET). The research utilized the paired sample t-test for comparing means using SPSS with 0.05 level of significance in order to test the hypothesis that MET applied for a single session will have a long-term effect in increasing HIP Abduction ROM secondary to tightness of hip adductors. A comparison was made on the values of the pre-application measurement with the 1st to 3rd post-measurement. The three post-measurement ROM were the dependent variables, and the independent variable was the single application of muscle energy technique (MET). The 1st, 2nd and 3rd post-measurement were compared with each other. A total of 12 pairs of measurements were obtained. Paired sample t-test was used to determine whether there was a significant difference between the average values of the same measurement made under two different conditions. Both measurement were made on each unit in a simple, and the test was based on the paired differences between these two values. The usual null hypothesis is that difference in the mean values is zero. Based on the paired sample t-test, PostL1 and L3 (.016) and Post R1 and R3 (.000), an observed significant increase from pre-test to 2 weeks post-test measurements was noted and therefore gives a greater possibility of the long term effect of single MET application not in maintaining an increase in measurement but rather an increase in pre-test measurement of hip abduction ROM. This observation can be further examined given an extended period of time and consideration of specific factors that might have affected the result of the study
