ABSTRACT: This study tests the hypoglycemic effects of leaf and bark decoction of Duhat (Syzigium cumini) on six male albino rats were diabetically induced with Alloxan. Group B consists of two rats treated with Duhat leaf decoction, while Group C, also consisting of two rats, was treated with Duhat bark decoction. Group A received no treatment and served as the diabetic control. Results showed that the blood glucose levels of the rats orally administered with leaf decoction decreased after one week, while those administered with bark decoction decreased after two weeks. The effective dose of decoction to decrease blood sugar level is 40 ml.
