KNOWLEDGE, ATTITUDE AND BEHAVIOR OF MOTHERS IN BARANGAY HOLY SPIRIT ON PHILHEALTH AND UTILIZATION OF ITS BENEFITS

In the philippines, various barriers to seeking professionals health care is being addressed by philhealth through provision of accessible benefits for women with its maternity care package-including coverage for both newborns and mothers. In this study we aimed to assess the current knowledge, skills and behavior of mothers from sub-barangay health center in republic avenue, barangay holy spirit, and quezon city towards the benefit package for women about to birth. The data was gathered through the use of survey questionnaires and the data collected revealed 52% of mothers are aware of the maternity care package and antenatal care package, respectively. Fifty percent (50%) og the women have not availed any of the benefits of the women about to birth package. Eighty three percent (83%) of them said that the knowledge of the existence of philhealth as mainly through their family and friends. The assessment of the overall attitude of mothers towards the said package showed that 79% believe that the services are being delivered effectively. Lastly, the mothers' behaviour towards philhealth maternal healthcare package consistent and compliant as 84% of them answered they surcharge increases. We therefore conclude that the mothers are knowledegeable regarding philhealth maternal healthcare package and have positive attitude and behaviour towards it.
